STEP 1

Wet hair thoroughly, then squeeze out any excess water. Deposit a small amount of shampoo into your hand (about the same size as a 10 cent piece), and massage it into your scalp and around the hairline with the pads of your fingers. Rinse all the product out with warm water.

“A detoxifying shampoo will thoroughly remove styling product and daily grime,” says Hayden.

STEP 2

Once again, squeeze out any excess water, and shampoo your hair for the second time using a prescriptive product. Repeat step 1.

“The right shampoo can help nourish brittle hair, protect coloured hair or boost volume in limp hair,” says Hayden.

STEP 3

A deep-conditioning mask will boost hydration in hair. Using the size of a twenty cent piece, coat the mid-lengths to the ends with the product.

“Try to avoid the roots, otherwise you’ll get a build-up of product… and nobody wants oily roots,” says Hayden.

STEP 4

Wait about 2-5 minutes, then run a wide-tooth comb through hair to detangle.

“The heat from the shower will help the product penetrate into hair, helping you make the most out of your product,” says Hayden.

STEP 5

To seal the cuticle and eliminate frizz, rinse the mask out with cool water.

“It’s important to treat hair like skin, so invest in good quality products,” says Hayden.
