We pay homage to Dream Wedding Dresses by the Master of Ceremonies, the late fashion designer Oscar de la Renta.
His heavenly frocks were worn by style icons over six decades, from Audrey Hepburn and Jackie Kennedy to Sarah Jessica Parker, Michelle Obama and most recently, he designed the beautiful Amal Clooney’s wedding dress. He died on Tuesday October 21, 2014, at his home in Connecticut, surrounded by friends and family. He was 82 and had contracted cancer in 2006.
“He died exactly as he lived: with tremendous grace, great dignity and very much on his own terms,” said step-daughter Eliza Bolen and son-in-law Alex in a handwritten note on the company’s website. “While our hearts are very much broken by the idea of life without Oscar, he is still very much with us. Through Oscar’s example we know the way forward. We make Oscar very proud of us by continuing in an even stronger way the work Oscar loved so much.”
The internet and social media was immediately flooded with posts from those who wanted to pay tribute to the fashion legend, and quoted de la Renta who was known for his elegance and refinement.
Famed for his bridal style, we couldn’t resist bringing to you a sneak peek into his heavenly dresses. Flick through the gallery for some truly beautiful wedding inspiration.
