It’s often a subject of fierce debate – what is the best beach in Sydney? Sydney siders from the East will swear it’s Bondi, southerners will plump for Cronulla and those living north of the Sydney Harbour Bridge will overwhelmingly say it’s the Norfolk pine lined beach of Manly.

Whatever the case Manly Beach has much to recommend it, with plenty of surfing and beach volley ball and surf life saving clubs. There’s also the bonus of the more intimate Shelly Beach close by where snorkelling is extremely popular and many enjoy the sculptures along the walk way and a pleasurable lunch to be had at the Boat House. Plus, like Bondi, there is a thriving night life with the Manly Corso’s huge array of restaurants and bars.

For backpackers visiting Australia, Manly is certainly an unmissable location. It’s also only a short ferry ride across the harbour to the other popular sites of Sydney including the most recognisable of all with the architectural masterpieces the Sydney Opera House and the iconic Sydney Harbour Bridge.

Manly Beach
Hello Manly, Hello Balmy sunny days

Aside from the world class restaurants, Sydney is situated on one of the most beautiful harbours in the world and just a stones throw from some of the most beautiful natural wonders…

Here, The Carousel’s film-maker Mauricio Espinoza took to the skies with his new drone camera to highlight the beach he votes as the best beach in Sydney – Manly.

“There is no doubt Manly and Freshwater are the two most amazing beaches in Sydney,” says Mauricio who hails originally from Valdivia, Chile. “You are just 25 minutes from the city and it combines beach and lifestyle and the surrounding areas of Manly including the Manly dam are equally impressive.”

We hope you enjoy Mauricio’s drone video of Manly.
