Everybody has their own idea of paradise, and for me, it was my stay at Coco B Islain Costa Mejures – the in the newest gem of the Mexican Caribbean. Nestled on the most spectacular beach front, it proved to be the perfect holiday destination to relax, rejuvenate and soak in unparalleled beauty.

The experience began with warm smiles, and the most delicious margaritas, which tasted somehow better than ever as we took in the breathtaking views from the foyer. My travel companions and I squealed with delight, eager to check in and explore our stunning surroundings.

Each day began with yoga and meditation on the rooftop terrace, offering serene, panoramic views of the Caribbean crystal-clear waters.This daily ritual left me feeling grounded, peaceful, and ready to embrace the day ahead. Breakfast was nothing short of a culinary masterpiece-from fresh juices and traditional egg dishes to Mexican inspired creations. My personal favorite? Eggs Benedict topped with lobster! Every meal was a feast for the senses, leaving me marveling at how the flavors seemed to surpass one another with every bite.

Days were filled with adventure and exploration and evenings, brought the group together by the waterfront to share stories over cocktails before indulging in another exquisite dinner. The villa’s cuisine was so delectable that you never wanted to leave-the talented chefs seem to have perfected the art of nourishment and indulgence. For more than a decade the founders of Coco B Isla dreamed of creating a Caribbean sanctuary where guests could unwind, refresh, and immerse themselves in comfort, tranquility and timeless style. Isla Mujeres itself is a magical little island nestled across the Bahia de Mugeres (Bay of women) from the hustle and bustle of Cancun. Stretching almost 8 km from tip to tip and barely 800 meters wide at its chubbiest point (that’s 5 miles and a half a mile respectively for the metrically challenged). This island is compact but packed with charm.

The best time to visit is January through April: great weather but a bustling crowd and higher prices. But hey, it’s prime time for events galore: the five-day Isla Mujeres Carnival, Island Time Music Festival and the Island Time Fishing Tournament, and loads more special events and fundraisers.

One of my favorite discoveries was the cemetery: A kaleidoscope of colors, traditions and history. Here lies Fermin Mundaca‘s empty tomb, a man whose life swirled with tales of piracy and unrequited love. His time-worn tomb sits low to the ground in the southeast area of the cemetery. At its base, a haunting skull and crossbones, carved by Manduca himself, and the epitaph, a poignant reflection of life’s fleeting nature, and he’s undying love for La Triguena, reads: “As you are, I was. As I am you will be.”

Another favorite spot is Punta Sur: follow the footsteps of the Maya through statues and ruins leading you to the cliff of the dawn, where Isla Mujeres greets the sunrise. There is an early morning ritual where your enveloped in a traditional burning wood ceremony to keep the evil spirits away and bless you.
