Suddenly, the baby’s face registers a range of emotions, from excitement and surprise to puzzlement and concern, as she experiences sound for the very first time.
Gorgeous Annabelle’s reaction is melting hearts around the world after mum Sarah Jo uploaded this special moment with her three-month-old onto YouTube.
“Is that a normal response?” Sarah Jo asks the audiologist from Idaho Elks Hearing and Balance Centre, Boise, Caters News reported.
“That’s a good response,” the audiologist responds before clapping, which a perplexed Annabelle clearly hears – turning her head a full 90 degrees in the direction of the elusive sound.
When she is nine months old, she will be fitted with cochlear implants to replace the temporary hearing aids.
“Everything has been so overwhelming,” her mum said. “To be able to tell Annabelle that I love her and know she hears me is very emotional.”
You could see how excited she was to be able to hear. I can’t stop talking to her.
“Whenever I’m doing the dishes or putting a wash on I give her a running commentary.
“I want her to be able to catch up on the last three months.”
Sarah Jo added: “At the moment she is really tired.
“I think hearing for the first time means her brain is working extra hard to understand what is happening.
“She is napping much longer than she did before to recuperate.
“But when she’s awake she is so much more excited.”
