Upgrading to a Fitbit Alta HR was a wise decision to help me boost my fitness and health goals.
This model is the world’s slimmest continuous heart rate tracker and it’s funky looking.
Design
The design of this fitness tracker is sleek and modern. The thin wrist band suits a female arm and it looks like a watch replacement. The band is easy to clean, interchangeable and comes in black (stainless steel or gunmetal), blue gray, fuchsia (pretty pink), coral and soft pink (rose gold). You can upgrade your Fitbit to a premium brown, indigo or lavender leather accessory band. I’m lusting after the bracelet-like stainless steel.
Setup and help
The setup was easy to complete. You just download the Fitbit app to your smartphone and charge up your tracker. Then you need to sync them. The support pages are well designed and helpful.
Features
The Fitbit Alta HR has all of the useful features like counting steps, calories and distance. You can also track your sleep patterns and quality. I like to wake up with the silent vibrating alarm. I’m a fan of the reminder to move every hour because I can sit at my computer for hours without a break.
My favourite feature is looking at the weekly statistics on a computer – you can see graphs and scores for the total number of steps, total distance, total floors climbed, total calories burned, weight change and average sleep duration. The app gives you a good overview and acts a progress snapshot.
I recommend subscribing to the premium account where you’ll be able to see Fitbit community benchmarks, food reports, activity reports, sleep reports and a personalised 12-week fitness plan for AUS$59.99 per year.
The battery life is reasonably good and lasts nearly a week before it needs charging by USB. The clock face can be changed. Sometimes it can be hard to read in bright midday sunlight – but you just need to cover it with your other hand.
Price and Availability
The Fitbit Alta HR is available for AU$249.95 in major Australia retailers including Harvey Norman, JB Hi-fi, Officeworks, and Rebel Sport.
