IKEA Australia has just launched a number of environmentally friendly, ethical and handmade products that are all about relaxing indoors and indulging ourselves in those lazy moments. In these times of COVID-19 and #stayathome, these vibrant new colours will provide a cheerful addition to your interiors

Tropical and retro-inspired patterns have been used on their new ranges of breathable cotton bedlinen and curtains, there is more sustainability with the use of 100% recycled polyester on shower curtains, cotton rugs have replaced oil-based rugs and there is a beautiful range of handmade items from India.

There is also is a new range of clever air-purifying curtains which activate daylight, breaking down common indoor air pollutants. They don’t require electricity and are even self-cleaning which saves water, energy and money.

It’s good to see more of the warmer, yellow-based colours especially the coral pinks and turquoises in a mix of botanical, animal and bird photo prints in these new bedlinen ranges for babies, tweens and teens.

Continuing in the warm, tropical colours are these retro-inspired curtains, perfect to complement walls painted in a shade of salmon or plaster pink.

Have you ever wanted a reclining chair but never found one that you considered to be stylish enough?  Look no further as the new Gistad recliner is oozing mid-century style and perfect to sit back and take a weight off. It comes in a choice of two colours – dark red or classic black – and apparently is very easy to assemble!

There is also another collaboration with female artisans in India, this time with designer Akanksha Deo. Over 1070 people in Rangsutra get a job through the Ikea productions, which has resulted in several collections since the start of the collaboration in 2013. Thanks to Ikea’s joint efforts more people have the chance to earn a decent living. These gorgeous cushions are embellished with beautiful handmade embroidery and tassels or pompoms and are suitable for living rooms or bedrooms. What little girl doesn’t like a pompom cushion or two on her bed?!

I’m a big fan of mixing colours and patterns in a room. Are you brave enough to refresh your sofa with a mix of tropical and abstract cushions?
