It’s time to start having real cocktail parties. Warm weather? Check. Cocktails? We’ve got you, we’re bringing the Caribbean heat.
We have two brand new rum cocktail recipes, brought to you from the heart of Barbados. Not a rum fan? You will be. Honestly, Team Carousel are not big on the bourbon, but these mixes are not the heavy, potent, fumey bourbon we used to know, but warm, smooth and fresh.
No #1 R&BTini
This one is clean and crisp – best enjoyed with a smooth R&B playlist and ocean views. The harmony of peach and basil is a sweet ‘n’ savoury blend of dreams.
Ingredients:
- 45ml Mt Gay Eclipse
- 20ml crème de peach
- 20ml lime juice
- 10ml vanilla syrup
- 2 Thai basil leaves
Add all the ingredients to your shaker, shake to the rhythm of your R&B music (to showcase your finesse), then fine strain into chilled coupe glass and garnish with a basil leaf.
No #2 Mount Gay Swizzle
This drink is a sensational twist of the classic tiki flavours, vanilla and coconut. Best enjoyed with great company and a show-stopping sunset.
Ingredients:
- 50ml Mt gay Black Barrel
- 20ml Lime juice
- 10ml coconut syrup
- 15ml Licor 43
- 2 dash cherry bitters
- Crushed ice
Pro cocktail connoisseur tip: garnish with edible flowers then watch your guests’ jaws drop. Or alternatively, ramp up the quantities and take a jug down to the beach to catch that sunset.
Since we mentioned R&B, it would be rude not to suggest some of our favourites to add to your party playlist. We have chosen a few songs with hints of soul and jazz to complement the sophistication of your cocktail-making prowess (forthcoming).
Good For Eachother – J. Holiday
When We Get By – D’Angelo
As – Stevie Wonder
Doo Wop (That Thing) – Lauryn Hill
Turnin’ Me Up – BJ The Chicago Kid
Reality Check (ft. Akenya & Eryn Allen Kane) – Noname
Why Don’t You – Cleo Sol
Now you have recipes and music, all you need is good company. Get on the group chat, it’s cocktail time.
