With whiffs of hairspray and the scent of fake tan in the air, the most celebrated local talent put their best foot (or stiletto) forward, and all eyes will be firmly planted on television sets across the nation, for that ‘ah-ha’ moment.
But have you ever wondered what exactly goes into the preparation leading up to the Logies?
Beauty Queen and current Miss Universe Australia, Monika Radulovic, traded her tiara for the TRX, and shared all her Logies prep secrets with The Carousel…
DIET
Has your diet changed much in the lead up to the Logies?
In my profession, I could be informed very last minute of a photoshoot or event, so I always need to ensure that I look camera ready! So, I generally try and make sure my regular diet is nice and healthy. But of course, before big events like the Logies, I turn this up a notch and really focus on clean eating.
Are there any foods you cut out? And how long for?
Cutting out sugar and processed carbs works wonders! I have so more energy, I’m less bloated, and generally feel much lighter and fresher.
What does your normal diet consist of? Do you maintain any kind of specific diet?
I keep my diet really simple and wholesome. I try and eat lots of fresh vegetables, seafood, and eat meat occasionally. I also put a big focus on healthy fats – it’s a huge myth that eating fat makes you fat- in fact it’s quite the opposite. It revs your metabolism, increases fat burning, regulates your hormones and makes your skin glow! I eat at least an avocado or two every day, and I LOVE cooking with coconut oil; I even put it in my coffee!
Do you have any great go-to foods for the day of a big event?
My biggest piece of advice is about what you shouldn’t eat on the day of a big event – no sugar or carbs because they increase bloating, and produce a general, sluggish feeling. Focus on eating light meals with lots of greens and lean protein (and of course the good fats!)
FITNESS
Has your fitness regime changed in the lead up to the Logies?
I normally train about five times a week as it is, so I have just been maintaining that routine. I also go to the Hypoxi studio in Mascot three times a week where I use the Hypoxi machine for targeted fat loss (it’s amazing!) and the infrared sauna to help detoxify.
How long before an event, would you start upping your workouts?
I consciously begin to focus a bit more on my fitness probably a few weeks before an event
What does your normal fitness routine look like?
I train at the Ultimate Pilates studio in Rosebery about 5 mornings a week. I do some strength and conditioning as well as HIIT classes including reformer pilates, TRX, weights and working with The Bow. I love working out there as the classes are always really challenging but fun, and they never get boring which is really important for me to ensure I keep going!
What are you top three quick exercises that you would do before a big event? (for that last-minute tone!)
Squats for a nice butt lift, 1000’s for the abs and a quick set of bicep curls to get the arms looking toned.
SKIN
How have you prepped your skin leading up to the Logies?
To be honest, I haven’t done anything out of the ordinary for my skin leading up to the Logies. I always make sure I cleanse, tone and moisturise every morning and night, and I always take off my makeup before I go to bed! I really believe what you put into your body has a huge impact on your skin; and since consuming more healthy fats in my diet, so many people have been commenting on my glowing skin.
Are there any tips you have leading up to a big event to keep your skin glowing?
Hydrate! Water is so important for plump, glowing skin.
Is there something you do that maybe be a little left of field to keep your skin beautiful?
Coconut oil! As well as cooking with it, I use coconut oil as a moisturiser and I swear by it!
BODY
How have you prepped your body leading up to the Logies?
I’ve just had a mani and pedi, and I got my hair freshly cut.
Are you getting a spray tan? If so, by who?
Yep, I’ve just had my spray tan done! Dannielle from Hypoxi Mascot does the best spray tans – never streaky, never orange and they fade really evenly. She’s incredible!
Any great spray tan tips for a big event?
Before: exfoliate, exfoliate, exfoliate! After: moisturise, moisturise, moisturise!
