They say love doesn’t cost a thing, but this wooing money could be well spent. Australian and New Zealand brand Michael Hill Jewellers is the only local brand to run ads during this year’s US Superbowl, with big plans to capture the hearts of lovers universally. Here’s the juicy loved-up goss …

The US Superbowl is watched by an estimated 111.5 million viewers people around the world. It is one of the biggest TV events on the US calendar. So it makes us little vegemite’s a little gushy to see a local company, started by Sir Michael Hill in 1979, mixing with big global players (a 30 second ad costs around $4.5US million Superbowl).

Michael Hill International will launch its new look We’re for Love! brand by airing two new TV commercials in the US and Canada during the NFL Super Bowl XLIX, as they expand the brand internationally.

The campaign highlights love and its many forms, by sharing real love stories captured on the streets of New York. Michael Hill’s team grabbed more than 1,200 people off New York’s streets and asked them all about love. The result? A ‘real’ showcase of what love means to people.
