Forget the regular hair bun styles, the newest and hottest hair trend right now is the half bun.

Many of our favourite celebs and It girls have been rocking the half bun trend of late. It’s the stylish way to have your hair up and down by rocking a top knot.

Here’s our favourite celebrity half bun styles and how to recreate them.

We love Kendall’s sophisticated take on the trend with a tight high bun and sleek soft waves.

Apply some heat spray to your washed hair and a smoothing serum and smoothly blow dry your hair into a soft curl. To add more of a wave, separate your hair into seperate sections and twist and pin into little buns on you hair. Leave for a while whilst you do your makeup or get dressed. Then remove and brush out with a soft bristle brush into smooth silky waves.

Then separate just the top part of your hair from the bottom. Pull back a brush width of hair from the front to the crown of your head.

Tie a snag-less elastic around your hair in a pony and pull it tight. Then brush your pony so your hair is smooth and sleek, try adding a shine spray and twist your hair around into place. If you want the bun to be bigger then gently back comb your pony before you put in a bun, then pin it in place with some bobby pins and gently tug it out.

Gently tease the top of your hair up to add more volume so it isn’t so tight and flat against your head.

Finally, add some shine serum so it’s super sleek and silky looking.

Try Tigi Bed Head After-Party: This smooth serum is perfect for adding a high shine and gloss and taming frizz and flyways.

Selena has gone for a more edgy grunge version of this hair style. She’s loosely twisted her hair around her messy top knot, added some extensions for fuller thicker hair and left her natural waves. If you have straight hair, add a curl boosting moose before you blow dry your hair.

First you want to pull the top of your hair tightly back, and pull it into a very highly placed pony. Then back comb your pony and create a tuck bun by pulling your hair half way through your hair tie.

Then take the remaining hair, not in the tuck bun, and pin it around the base of your bun. Add some clip in extensions and wrap them around the base to add thickness and volume like Selena.

To finish messily pull out some strands for a more grungy look and rough up the sides that are down. If you want to add some volume try spraying some volumising spray into the roots of your hair thats not in the bun.

Add some texturising spray for an extra sexy bed head look. Try Bumble and Bumble Dryspun finish which is a light mist that adds fullness and texture to any hair type.

Margot has created a chic boho half bun. We love this medium height bun with her soft tousled tresses surrounding her face.

The best thing about this hair style is that it suits any hair type or length and it’s simple and easy to do.

Part your hair down the middle and leave a few loose strands to frame your face.

Pull just a small section of your hair from the top back into a medium height bun.  Simply twist your hair around and tie in place with your hair tie for a casual chic style.

The gently curl your loose tresses into soft natural waves with a hair wand or straighteners.

Keep in place with some hair spray then run your fingers through to loosen the waves to complete your boho half bun.

Try Toni & Guy Casual Flexible Hold Hairspray for lightweight control with movement.
