Compass Hut is a 100% off-grid, boutique, family-operated Tiny House accommodation business located in the northern Central Coast region of Tasmania.

Compass Hut’s newest accomodation is Arc Pavilion, a 7.5-meter long tiny house on wheels designed, crafted and curated by its owners, Kylie and Tamika Bell. The self-contained home operates on solar and Tesla battery storage, and is designed according to sustainable principles with a north orientation, double glazed windows and insulation.

The home’s small footprint includes an edible garden and outdoor areas with stunning views across the coast to Bass Strait – you can even see the Spirit of Tasmania coming and leaving.

Yoga mats and floor pillows are provided to make the most of the view from the deck.

The space includes a luxurious queen-sized bed, french linens, over-bed skylight and artwork on display.

No scrimping on comfort, with a luxurious queen-sized bed.

The ensuite bathroom, semi-open-plan to the bedroom, boasts an unusually high, fully glazed double-shower space that looks out to a fully enclosed, private Japanese maple garden.

Guests can enjoy a fully-equipped kitchenette including a wine fridge and minibar.

A fully equipped kitchen means guests can be self-sufficient.

The living area includes a TV and wall-mounted tablet that enables guests to check in on how the off-grid system is operating via the Tesla app – although with the choice of those outdoor views or a Danish Morso fireplace indoors, why would you want to look at a device?

The Danish Morso fireplace provides a cosy spot for a glass of wine and dinner in the evenings.

Kylie and Tamika leave their personal stamp on the home with their own 2D and ceramic sculptures. The sisters also built and designed most of the furniture and cabinetry.

Arc Pavilion is the second tiny house on wheels on the family’s 84 acre farm, joining the even smaller Barnhaus, also 100 percent off grid.
