But there is one prize he says, with tongue firmly in check, that’ll top them all – beating The Muppets’ star drummer Animal in a drum-off.

“Been waiting years for this Animal,” he sneers in the hilarious video below.

Animal strikes first before Dave taps a cymbal and fires back, “Oh what’s that, a bell? Time for school,” before launching into his first solo.

The madness in the “drum-derdome” quickly escalates as Dave and Animal pound furiously on their kits.

Diehard Muppets’ fans will recall the pair has a history. Dave appeared in the 2011 Muppets film as Animool, the drummer of a spoof group called The Moopets led by Fozzie Bear.

In the movie, the former Nirvana drummer’s percussion consists of him gently tapping on a tiny tambourine.

The beat battle takes place during the closing credits of The Muppets episode that also features a special guest appearance from Joseph Gordon-Levitt, who sings a duet with Miss Piggy.
