There was no champagne – or decadent desserts – just kombucha tea, fermented coconut milk and a paleo carrot cake, say reports of Pete Evans’ Farmyard wedding.
The paleo diet devotees, who began dating in 2011, originally planned to marry in 2015, but fearing paparazzi would spoil their big day, they delayed the nuptials.
Nicky says they only set the final date 10 days before the ceremony at their northern NSW farm.
“We originally intended to get married last April, but someone leaked out the date, Nicky, 39, tells New Zealand Woman’s Day.
“We were warned that the paparazzi were all ready to go with choppers so we pulled the pin…but it feels so right to be doing it now, like this.”
Nicky wore an organic cotton “kimono-style gown with angel sleeves” from fashion label Spell, which hasn’t yet been released, and Pete dressed in a white shirt, tan pants and went shoe-less.
Pete, 43, told guests during his vows he was going to be proud to call Nicky his wife.
“I am super-stoked that she is a part of our family and I look forward to sharing this wonder-filled life we continue to create together for Chilli, Indii (from his previous marriage to Astrid Edlinger), all the animals and ourselves,” he said.
Nicky replied that she loved Pete’s sense of humour.
“I love his fluffy chest hair – it’s the perfect pillow – and I love his smell,” says the former socialite who was once married to former NZ Warriors league boss Eric Watson.
“His natural aroma is nurturing and familiar, and when he’s away, I always sleep on his side of the bed so that I can breathe him in.”
Nicky later took to Instagram to confirm the wedding, posting a shot of Pete with the word, ‘husband’.
Her fans quickly started offering her their well-wishes.
“Congrats, wishing you many happy and blessed years together with your soulmate and little angels creating even more beautiful memories,” one wrote.
While another added: “So happy for you both, match made in heaven.”
She also posted a shot of her riding into the distance on her beloved horse wearing a white dress that closely resembled her bohemian-style wedding gown with bell sleeves.
“We’re not shy of a little dance in the rain … My Dragon and I,” she captioned it.
I love them both. I just hoe that someday she realizes that she doesn’t have to enhance her lips or do anything else. that which is within, shines without.
I agree with you there.
