Oscars 2016: Watch The Red Carpet Video Highlights

Breakout style star of the year, actress Alicia Vikander, turned most early heads in a stunning yellow Louis Vuitton gown.

Alicia says it’s been her dream since she was five-years-old to dress like Belle from Beauty and the Beast.

“I’ve had the privilege to wear dresses that are like pieces of art,” says the face of Louis Vuitton and winner of Best Supporting Actress for The Danish Girl.

Alicia also wowed us at the SAG Awards in another shimmery Louis Vuitton gown and is fast becoming the It Girl of Hollywood fashion.

The bubble hemline on her Oscar gown was a key detail on Vuitton’s spring ’16 runway, but that’s pretty much where the catwalk references end. The soft yellow hue — a feature she told E!’s Ryan Seacrest that she really liked — with allover silver embellishments isn’t something we’ve seen Vikander reach for in the Vuitton color wheel.

On past red carpets, Alicia has opted for more neutral shades: a white pinafore column gown at the Golden Globes; a long-sleeved number covered entirely in black, gold, and white sequins for the SAG Awards.)

Fans were in raptures about the brighter colour here, inviting some immediate Disney comparisons on social media.

House and Vinyl star Olivia Wilde, below, also stunned in a Valentino Haute Couture gown. Olivia is the co-executive producer Body Team 12, which is up for the award for Best Documentary – Short Subject.

Our own Cate Blancett (Carol) showcased her quirky style in a pale blue gown which was embellished with feathered flowers.

Isla Fisher glided on the red carpet in a flowing white gown with a floral pattern and off-the-shoulder neckline, carrying a matching clutch and adding extra sparkle with diamond bracelets and earrings.

Heidi Klum turned heads in an unusual lilac and white gown with cut-out section on the chest, and Margot Robbie when for a sexy look in a snakeskin style gold gown with a low-cut neckline.
