While in Melbourne on her Rebel Heart tour, the pop star was accused of having a boozy meltdown.
Some fans were supposedly shocked when she is said to have taken a swig of tequila and downed a drink from a fan’s hip flask.
Well, Madge has just one thing to say about all that fuss – none of it is true.
“Too bad people don’t know the art of acting and playing a character,” she writes on Instagram.
When one devoted U.S. fan came to her defense online, she continued: “Thanks for supporting me. I could never do any of my shows high or drunk,” she captioned the lengthy post.
“And yes underlying all of this is sexism and misogyny which proves that not only do we not get equal pay bUt we are still treated like heretics if we step out of line and think outside the box! Sexism is alive and kicking but I am #livingforlove.”
The fan, called Remington Graves, said Madonna has always taken “meticulous” care of her body and would never drink, smoke or do drugs.
“Madonna is a classically trained dancer who has spent her entire life taking meticulous care of her body and health. She doesn’t drink. She doesn’t smoke. She doesn’t use drugs. She has always been, from day one, savagely devoted to her show. She’s known for it. That’s one thing.
“Another thing – Madonna’s show is a tightly choreographed, intricate, two-hour production, both performance-wise and with the technology she uses.”
Madonna has not performed in Melbourne since 1993, and attempted to catch her fans up on her life.
Off-stage, most of her energy is sidetracked in battling Guy for custody of their 15-year-old son Rocco, who did not return to New York in December, 2015, and has since started going to school and living with his father in England.
“Since I saw you last, I have a family, children, a crazy, adventurous life,” Madonna told the audience. “I am so grateful for everything that’s happened to me. …I’m one grateful b**ch.”
She added, “If I have learned one thing in my life, it’s just to go with it. If you just laugh it doesn’t hurt as much.”
