Mai tai means ‘good’ in Tahitian, the origin of this tiki classic which was invented in California by Don the Beachcomber. Sweet and strong with almond flavoured ‘orgeat’ bringing the unique taste.
INGREDIENTS
2 ½ Parts Havana Club 7Y Rum
1 Part Dark Rum
1 Part Pineapple Juice
1 Part Lime Juice
1 Part Orange Curaçao
½ Part Orgeat Almond Syrup
Garnish
1 Sprig Mint Leaf
1 Wedge Pineapple
1 Whole Cherry
1 Wedge Lime
METHOD
Fill a shaker with ice cubes. Add all ingredients. Shake and strain into a chilled rocks glass filled with crushed ice. Garnish with mint leaf, pineapple, a cherry and lime.
