Beauty treatments promising eternal youth (plump skin, softer lines, better pigmentation) come and go. But when they claim to deliver the kind of glow-up that HRH Queen Bey has herself endorsed, then they tend to stick around. Intrigued by the thought of a procedure that promised to leave me with a Sasha Fierce face in less than 30 minutes, I excitedly – albeit skeptically – booked myself in for a hydrafacial (aka the Beyonce facial) at my local Clear Skincare Clinic.
But can a suburban clinic really give me a super star complexion? While I won’t be walking away with a Grammy Award anytime soon, my post treatment skin definitely gives “we flawless … say I look so good tonight,” vibes!
Bey-utiful beginnings
A star in its own right, the Hydrafacial machine wields a spiral tip famous for its dual ability to purge impurities and deliver revitalising medical grade serums. My appointment kicks off with a gentle cleanse, with the machine’s finesse buffing away dead cells with the precision of a “Single Ladies” dance move.
Following the cleanse, my treatment continues with a dynamic duo of glucosamine and lactic acid – which deliver a double dose of exfoliating. This is followed by a couple of expertly applied glycolic and salicylic acid peels. With the experienced hands of my technician delivering the kind of a performance that even chemical peel fearing peoples such as myself can enjoy.
All the single pimples …
While it’s hard to imagine Beyoncé struggling with pimples, for mere mortals still challenged by congested skin, the Hydrafacial’s extraction phase provides a solution to treat whiteheads and blackheads. Here, the Hydrafacial device uses a spiral tip to execute a safe vacuum-like suction, and remove impurities from deep within your pores. It’s powerful yet gentle enough to leave no evidence. And definitely a better option than manually hacking away at your own face at home!
Irreplaceable infusions
The final stage of my unofficial Beyonce facial introduces a clincal grade formula of peptides, antioxidants, and hyaluronic acid to the mix. The kind you’d expect in superficially applied serums. But that promise an immediate impact because they’re actually infused into the skin. The hydration temporarily fills in my fine lines, to leave me with immediate result and and undeniable overall glow that I am crazy in love with!
