CoverGirl has announced their new brand face is seventeen year old James Charles from New York who is an aspiring self-taught make-up artist.
He’s only been doing it for a year but the talented teen has racked up over 400 thousand followers on Instagram, which will be sure to grow now that he is the starring face of popular beauty brand, CoverGirl.

James is going to appear on TV, print and digital campaigns for the brand, which is stylish way to graduate senior year.
The rise in male beauty bloggers has seen a huge increase in popularity and it’s refreshing to see the gender barrier being broken down more and more. So we must take our hats off to CoverGirl for choosing their new brand face to be a talented young male. Make-up shouldn’t just be for girls and women.
CoverGirl are not the only brand breaking down gender barriers. Earlier this year fashion powerhouse Louis Vuitton names Jayden Smith the new face of their SS16 womenswear collection.
Pop star Katy Perry who is part of the CoverGirl Family (she has her own make-up range with them) also announced to her 56.8 million followers on Instagram the latest addition to the CoverGirl family.
“Just wrapped another great@COVERGIRL shoot. Honoured to have the pleasure to announce the very first COVERBOY, James Charles! Follow him@JCharlesBeauty! #COVERGIRLJames #glam”

James is from Bethlehem, New York and is the first ever male ambassador for the brand. His beauty videos and original make-up looks have captured the attention of the social media world. He even re-shot his senior portrait and brought his light ring so his highlighter would be ‘extra poppin’.
James only started pursuing his passion in make-up a year ago and has proved he has an obvious talent for make-up artistry. No wonder he went viral!

He creates wonderfully realistic illusions with his make-up and knows how to absolutely slay it with highlighter.

Beauty history has been made by CoverGirl and James and let’s hope he follows in his CoverGirl family members footsteps (Katy Perry) and brings out his own make-up range – just imagine what the highlighters would be like?
