So, what now?

All the good stuff!

You start to plan (when and where!) and get ready to find THE dress (of your dreams).

Finding “the one” should be a fun and joyous process – it doesn’t come without some pressure though, even just the sheer amount of options out there could overwhelm anyone! But that’s why I’m here, to give you all the tips and tricks and know-how for confidently and excitedly buying your dream dress.

Let’s get started!

When looking for your dress there are a few things to consider, because with sooo much choice out there, it can become overwhelming – so what you want is a clear plan that (with a little help from your friends too) can have you in your dream dress in no time!

You want to have all bases covered so that the process of finding your dream dress is easy, fun and a joyous experience for you!

Keeping with the flow and feel of your wedding (more on that later!) your dress should reflect you first and foremost, so understanding what style/s suits your body type is a great place to start! Below, I’ve rounded up the five most common body types and broken-down which styles of wedding dresses would suit them best!

** NB – EVERY body is beautiful in its own and unique way – use these styles as a guide so you can shine and radiate love and confidence on your big day.

APPLE: A bodice style top with beading and embellishments are such a great way to add some extra details to your dress, the bodice will also add more structure through the bust, adding support and definition too! Show off your legs (you know you want to!) by looking for any of these options; A dress with a high spilt, A sheer over lay or just a classic short skirt. If it’s a winter wedding why not wear tights, or if its summer leave those legs bare and just add heels!

TRIANGLE: A glamorous strapless style top will balance and flatter your shoulders and bust (making sure it fits you perfectly is crucial here to avoid any tugging/pulling on your day!). For keeping your silhouette balanced, look for a simple A-line or mermaid shaped skirt that is the right length for you in your chosen heels.

HOURGLASS: A sheath dress will flatter and enhance all of your curves. Choose from a spaghetti strap or a ¾ to full length sleeve for added drama. Think about the balance between your bust and hips and look for a sweetheart neck-line that will also serve as the perfect setting for a statement necklace.

CELERY: A-line shapes are perfect for you. Create feminine volume by accentuating your bottom half with ruffles, layers and details. Halter necks or a floaty cap sleeve would be perfect to balance out your bottom half and add to an all-over eye-catching silhouette.

ROUND: A ball gown style will suit you right down to the ground. Striking neck lines such as a v shape will elongate, and an empire style waist detail will create a beautiful proportional silhouette.

Now that you have an idea of which dress style would suit your body type, this is a great time to start gathering some #weddingdressinspo!

o Fabric and colour. Eg -Silk or chiffon? White, cream…or pink?!

o Hair and Make-up. Hair up or down, will you go for a classic make up look or try something different?

Ultimately, you want to choose a dress that fits you beautifully, and makes you feel amazing on a day where celebrating your love with family and friends, creating memories to last a life time and starting your journey as a married couple will be all you need to think about.
