It makes perfect sense to whip out your hairdryer and brush straight after a shower to smooth tresses… but why is it still so hard to master what seems to be the easiest trick of the trade? We spoke to hair stylist Barney Martin for his best tips.
Step 1 – After washing your hair, towel-dry it so it is not dripping wet.
Step 2 – It’s easier to blow-dry in sections, so divide your hair with a fine-tooth comb and clip it apart with alligator clips.
Step 3 – “When you first start blow-drying your hair, elevate the hair up to get volume,” says Barney Martin, Pantene’s Ambassador and Hair Expert. “Place the nozzle of the dryer underneath your hair, starting close to the root. When you finish with the roots, move on to the middle and ends of your hair.”
Step 4 – Continue to blow-dry straight down the hair shaft for shiny and smooth hair.
Step 5 – On the next day, go over your ‘do with some dry shampoo in the roots. “Dry shampoo is really good at refreshing your hair and adding some texture,” continues Martin. “Or try using a curling tong at the ends to bring movement back to the hair.”
