SALMA HAYEK
Oh Salma. You’ve finally matched up to our dreams of what it would be like to be married to a billionaire fashion mogul. This flowing pink, strapless gown is everything we could have ever wished for. Pretty, feminine and super flattering, it fits perfectly on the Cannes red carpet. And that colour is spectacular! Fuchsia pink works perfectly on all skin tones so if you’re ever tossing up whether to buy it, just say yes.
FRIEDA PINTO
She’s gone all out at Cannes this year. First a feathered long number and then this rather theatrical red gown with gold embroidery that poufs up and flows out like she’s a princess. Which naturally, she feels like. Wouldn’t you?
JESSICA CHASTAIN AND JESS WEIXLER
The brilliant blue is just one part of this fabulous look on Jessica Chastain. There’s the one-shoulder which is done very classicly, not directional at all, and the flow over the one hip which is just perfection with the soft wave in her hair. Then there’s the red lip. All together, it’s positively regal. And Jess Weixler in her black and white gown just behind her is the perfect backdrop.
LEA SEDOUX
How I love a woman whose curves are flaunted with such chic style! The plunging neckline and tight fitting dress hug her body beautifully, all the more because of this glorious green. The smattering of crystal beading on the shoulders and the train are set off by what look like enormousely expensive earrings, and I love that she’s carrying a clutch made of the same fabric. It’s all so classic Cannes.
JULIANNE MOORE
She takes fashion risks, Ms Moore, ones that we at The Carousel love. Here, she’s at a Cannes party and has chosen a voluminous, short green dress, but it’s the hair that gets top billing. Her lustrous locks are pinned on her head in a big topknot, and she’s accessorised with black, keeping things simple. There’s a lot to learn from this lady.
