Don’t get caught wearing red this race season when the colour in vogue is blue. We tracked down fashion forecaster Rebecca Hamilton, who is the Senior Research Editor: Fashion Content at Getty Images ANZ, for some insider tips.
Rebecca spends her days analysing fashion trends from the world’s most prominent runways and red carpet events to gauge and predict the fashion trends that will influence upcoming events and styles. Here, Rebecca shares her hot race day fashion trends forecast so you can steal the style stakes…
Boho Budwa
“Boho Budwa takes its inspiration from the free spirited bohemian movement,” explains Rebecca. “Inspired by gypsies, vintage treasures and monuments seen and found from travels around the world. Boho Budwa is the modern-bohemian -carefree elegance with a touch of character.”
The Look: “Soft, feminine, frills, carefree but elegant, floral prints and flowy fabrics.”
Paris Fashion Week Design Inspo’: Diane von Furstenberg, Tommy Hilfiger, Giambattista Valli, Shiatzy Chen, Yves Saint Laurent.
Race Day Spin: “Try Australian labels like Spell, Zimmermann & Camilla.”
Futuristic
“Futuristic is what keeps us fashion lovers inspired! It is the new spin fashion designers around the globe are adding to the fashion palette,” says Rebecca. “It is glamorous, creative, unique and stands out from the rest.”
Paris Fashion Week Design Inspo’: Gucci, Phillip Phein, Louis Vuitton, Jeremy Scott.
The Look: “Structured headpieces, unique and inspiring fabrics, cuts and textures.
Race Day Spin: Try Australian labels Ellery, Nicola Finetti & Manning Cartell.”
New Technology
“New Technology is similar to Futuristic in that it is an inspiring trend – using classic cuts but taking a different spin on textures of fabric.”
Paris Fashion Week Design Inspo’: Kenzo, Junya Watanabe, Chalayan, Celine.
The Look: “Classic shapes with unique textures, creative, bold and striking both subtly and loudly.”
Race Day Spin: “Try Australian labels Toni Maticevski & Steven Khalil.”
Femininity
“Feminity is inspired by past traditional silhouettes,” says Rebecca. “Channel the late Audrey Hepburn, Grace Kelly or Sophia Loren. Dresses are soft and flow to the floor; or structured and fitted to compliment any woman’s physique.”
Paris Fashion Week Design Inspo’: Alexander McQueen, Elie Saab, Vivienne Westwood, Moncler Gamme Rouge.
The Look: “Soft pastels, midi length hems, romantic, feminine, Parisian chic with a touch of creative flair.”
Race Day Spin: “Try Australian labels Lover the Label, Alice McCall, Carla Zampatti, Rachel Gilbert, Michael Lo Sordo and Alex Perry.”
