Once reserved for only the sartorial sphere, specifically Savile Row, now the term ‘bespoke’ can be applied to almost anything. The beauty realm too has fallen for the call of customisation, with offerings in makeup, skincare, haircare and fragrance all undergoing an individualistic spin.
Here, our favourite four bespoke beauty options to indulge in.
Lip Lab Custom Lip Colour
Too orange. Too pink. Way too nude. Lipstick is one of those things that is deeply personal, and despite having a plethora to choose from, often finding the right one is difficult (we can be a fussy lot, and know what we want). Well, at The Lip Lab you can. Seriously. An ingenue concept, Sydney’s lip institution has you custom blending lip colours, ingredients, SPF, even plumping agents, until you create the lippy (or lipgloss) of your dreams. You sit with your lip lady and watch as she squeezes, swirls and smushes more pigment, less pigment, until you’re happy with your shade (trying on between each amendment as lip colour changes according to your own lip pigment), then choose from a selection of scents and boosters. My lipstick of choice was a zestful watermelon shade scented with Parisian rose and a punch of lip plumper (of course). The options are innumerable. Satin or matte? Up to you! Did someone say Hens? We’ll pucker up to that.

Evo Fabuloso Coloured Hair
Ever wanted lilac locks just for the weekend? Or perhaps a doll pink ‘do? Look no further than the clever (and uber witty) folk at Evo. They have put their brains where their basin is and developed a personal hair colour service, Fabuloso, which lets you choose any colour of the rainbow by devising a customised colour either in salon, or at home, for just a short stint – so commitment phones can rejoice. You can even recreate that pot of gold, simply opt for a combo of copper and caramel, and you’ll have glistening, gilded locks for the week. These bottles bursting with big personality provide instant hair colour combined with a nourishing treatment in just three minutes, plus they are sulphate, paraben, dea, tea and propylene glycol free, i.e. holistic hair heaven. Or for a more pro take, head to any Evo salon and let the masters work their colourful magic. It’s like primary school all over again, but with fabulous coloured hair instead.
Available from any Evo salons nationwide and online.
Skin Inc Custom-Blended Serums
Ever thought all this skincare we’re lumped with sounds great, but isn’t really targeted to your specific needs? Singapore-based beauty brand Skin Inc has stepped in to save your skin from the mass-marketed creams and the like. My Daily Dose Serum is like a skincare pick ‘n’ mix; you literally choose the ingredients you need, a extra shot of hyaluronic acid (yes, please), a jab of Vitamin C, whatever your complexion desires. With nine serums and 84 possible concoctions, you simply fill in an online questionarre or undergo a one-on-one consultation and voila; a customised serum made just for you, and only you. It’s like a cocktail bar for your skin – genius.
Available at Sephora and online.
Atelier Cologne Personalised Fragrance
Gift-giving can be a most arduous task. The panic and pressure of presents can be all too much sometimes, so Atelier Cologne have made it that little bit easier. On every travel spray of their exquisite fragrance – free when you purchase a 200ml bottle – a cow-hide leather case, which colour-wise comes in everything from teal to tangerine, is engraved in gilded cursive with either initials, a name or a special message. So you can spritz whiffs of Calabrian mandarin, Tuscan iris or Brazilian tonka bean whilst your perfume is housed in it’s chic customised house. Personalised perfumery; a smell we could definitely get used to.
Available at Sephora or online at Libertine Parfumerie.
