New Technology Just Made Driving Safer

Carl Zeiss AG, the 160-year-old German maker of glasses, camera lenses and other optical systems has just released DriveSafe lenses by ZEISS – a revolutionary technical breakthrough that dramatically reduces glare at night caused by fog, rain and oncoming headlights.

ZEISS claims its fit-to-prescription lenses can reduce glare by up to 64%, which could be life-saving news for many Aussie women.

“If you hate driving in blurry conditions and want to feel safe behind the wheel especially if you have your children in the car, it’s comforting to know you can benefit from more accurate vision thanks to state of the art technology,” said The Carousel publisher Robyn Foyster, who road tested the new lenses.

“Trying out the new ZEISS DriveSafe lenses showed me firsthand the benefits of more accurate vision, especially when it comes to driving and during my early morning rowing sessions. The lenses were fitted into my new spectacles. I’ve enjoyed experiencing the difference it has made to my eye sight.”

The new ZEISS DriveSafe  lenses helps your eyes adjust to changing or low-light conditions, especially when it rains or it’s foggy. It also reduces glare at night from oncoming cars or traffic lights.

You will also benefit from better vision in low-light conditions thanks to Luminance Design® Technology as well as improved vision of the dashboard, rear-view mirror and side mirrors.

Let’s face it, driving in poor visibility is both annoying not to mention hazardous.

The latest research reveals that three out of four Australian drivers have trouble seeing while driving overall, with more women than men having trouble seeing while driving at night due to headlight glare – 47% v 38%.

One in two women also admit to having trouble seeing when driving in bad weather conditions.

ZEISS research shows that many people find the glare caused by the headlights of approaching vehicles, streetlights or reflections extremely irritating.

This is particularly the case when driving in twilight or at night when the pupils are dilated.

Market research and scientific evidence both indicate that perceived glare in traffic is linked to modern car lighting technology, and in particular to LED and Xenon HID light sources.

This makes it all the more important to have the appropriate glare protection in order to make driving more comfortable and safer. ZEISS has examined how drivers react to various types of glare and how lens coatings could remedy their problems.

Early studies reinforce that the ZEISS DriveSafe lens is the answer most drivers have been looking for – in one focus group, 97% of users noticed an immediate improvement behind the wheel.

From mums-on-the-run to professional single women, one in two of us wear specs or contacts, so this amazing innovation is definitely worth checking out.

What’s more, the lenses come in single vision and progressive lens types, and can double as your everyday glasses, so there’s need to have more than one pair on the go during your average day.

So if you find yourself reluctant to drive or avoid it altogether due to poor visibility then wearing the new ZEISS DriveSafe lenses will give you comfort in knowing you can enjoy more accurate vision making it safer.
