Emily, 28, claimed the major prize in the Myer Oaks Day Fashions On the Field finals wearing a classic navy dress made by her mother Angela.

“I’m so proud of mum,” said Emily, who also pipped all the leading designers to win the top sash on Cup day.

“I’m in shock. I feel overwhelmed.”

Among Emily’s cache of prizes includes a $75,000 Lexus and $6000 to spend at Myer.

Emily said her secret was in keeping her dress simple in order to compliment the brightly coloured leather and lace Lisa Schaefer headpiece.

“I couldn’t find a dress that did the hat justice, so my mum decided to make my dress on Sunday and finished it late last night,” Emily said on Cup day.

Emily’s mum, who is a primary school teacher in Grenfell NSW, was taught how to sew by her own mother, and even made her wedding dress.

Here are some of the best dressed celebs showing off their fabulous gowns and headwear.
