Chemicals seem to be everywhere we look – from personal hygiene to home cleaning products. Winter (especially this super-cold spell) is a great to go through your home and get rid of anything you chemical based, replacing it with natural, organic and cruelty-free products, while at the same time removing harmful toxins from your family’s way.

On the back of the recent 2021 Naturally Good Expo, we unearthed some brands and products in the natural health and wellness sector that are vegan-friendly, natural and/or organic and chemical-free.

This Victorian company produce a range of chemical free, organic cleaning products including dishwashing soap, hand sanitisers and home sprays. It was inspired by the founder’s mum, who started making her own chemical free cleaners from her garden ingredients, including Indian clove. Needless to say, the entire range smells heavenly, in particular Euclove Bathroom Cleaner.

Soap berries, which are from a plant which contain a natural, low-sudsing detergent called saponin, are a great alternative to laundry detergent. One 250g bag of soapberries from That Red House Compact Soapberries Pouch has enough for 90 washes. You can also add a few drops of their 100% essential oil washing essences to add a stunning scent to your wash.

White Magic

This brand has a huge range of chemical-free household cleaners including ones for windows, ovens and barbecues. They also have Eraser Sponges – specially formulated sponges which clean just by adding water to the sponge first.

Urthly Organics

Doing away the need for dishwashing liquid, Urthly Organics produces ‘dish swishers’ – all natural dishwashing soap using saponified coconut oil for cutting grease, essential oils and sodium bicarb to help soften water. Just rinse dishes prior to cleaning using some white vinegar.
