As the demands of life get busier and we try to fit more and more into our days, many people are finding themselves looking for that sea change earlier in life.

Years ago, the Central Coast in New South Wales was seen as a place for ugg boots and focaccias, but times have seriously changed. With the rising prices of day to day living in Sydney creatives are seeking space and an alternative lifestyle to fulfil their dreams. Travel is a priority for continuous inspiration and the Central Coast is providing an alternative sabbatical for many.

Here are The Carousel’s top five must visit destinations if you are looking to spend a day, a week or make the big move to the beautiful Central Coast.

1: Bombini Restaurant.

A favourite place to dine out, after opening a relaxed pizzeria upstairs in the outdoor open area, it’s become a staple mid-week champagne and pizza night out with the girls. Alongside the casual vibe, Chef Cameron Cansdell also creates a luxurious dining experience in the main restaurant for those special nights out.

2: Bouddi National park

A place to go to gather your thoughts, to breathe in the spectacularly fresh air and gaze up at the magnificent Angophora tree sculptures. A favourite little secluded beach here is Maitland Bay, a small and protected cove that is always featuring sculptures made by the kids out of washed up drift wood.

3: Long Jetty

A small seaside town that is full of quaint little second hand stores, quality food, such as Common Ground eatery, a record store and second hand furniture from the seventies! Always finding treats every time I visit. Not to mention just sitting on the coasts longest long jetty for a beautiful sunset and display of spectacular feeding water birds.

4: Remy & Co Pasta Bar

A hidden treasure, the rose between the thorns! Well worth fighting the concrete car park to find this beauty. Michael Fantuz has created an authentic Italian eatery that has the most incredible selection of reds to rival South Australia.  Spinning freshly made pasta in a pecorino wheel at your table, or watching the flamb’ed scampi flip in the air, the food and atmosphere here won’t let you down. It’s unpretentious, it’s quality, and It’s well worth a visit on a Friday or Saturday night

5: Avoca Beach

This beautiful little spot has grown so much since I arrived here. Hopefully it won’t grow too much more, as the beauty of it is its tranquility. The ability to live in absolute peace in the forest, visit spectacular world class beaches and watch the international surfers take on the swell, has been life changing on every level.  Lots of wonderfully talented musicians and artists are calling Avoca home, due to its ambience and ability to still get a good coffee! Pop in to see Carerra at Yoga with CJ for a session of goodness with a lady full of sunshine and pure heart at 177 Avoca Drive, Avoca  Beach before you settle in to the most beautifully created foods from the garden to plate at Likeminds. Here the owners grow their own herbs and every plate is created with the most exceptional love.
