TikTok Famous Artists Josh And Matt’s Fun Upcycled Homewares Collection

With their eclectic design flair and engaging DIY content, emerging Melbourne artists Josh Jessup and Matt Moss have quickly grown a 177K strong following on TikTok.

Now you can purchase one-of-a-kind pieces with the moustached pair’s touch thanks to their collaboration with Australian resale marketplace Gumtree.

Gumtree Collections with Josh and Matt marks the marketplace’s first interiors line, and the first of many artist collabs Gumtree is planning to help promote circularity. All proceeds will be donated to Planet Ark, to support circular economy education programs.

Josh and Matt’s 25 piece collection exudes their signature maximalist style; Pops of contrasting colour, mixed materials, and organic shapes that feel like mod while refusing to commit to any particular design era. And if you think choosing upcycled furniture isn’t really worth the effort when compared to purchasing something brand new, think again: By keeping pre-loved items away from landfill, Josh and Matt’s line saved approximately 1,136kg of carbon emissions (CO2), which is the estimated equivalent to the CO2 emissions of powering one Australian home for 23
days (according to data from the Environment Protection Authority Victoria’s Australian Greenhouse Calculator).

The Sunset Lamp (available as a pair) is a personal favourite:

Two table lamps have been given a Josh and Matt update with pink and purple hues.

A recycled glass vase is given a new life with polymer clay flowers:

In a joint statement about the collection, the duo said it was inspired by their interest in space and the universe. “Many of the pieces are modular and interactive, which is how we like to design home décor and accessories,” they said. “We wanted to show that there’s beauty in everything and with a bit of love and care, you too can find items on Gumtree to upcycle and make a positive impact on the home and planet. Creating DIY objects around our home during lockdown was how Josh & Matt Design was born, and this collection feels like an extension of that. It embodies who we are and our creative journey so far.”
