A quick-thinking Aussie dad is a YouTube hero after bringing a drowned kookaburra back to life using a mixture of CPR and an air compressor!
His proud son uploaded the incredible footage below, which shows the man working tirelessly to save the bird beside the family’s backyard pool.

“My dad was in his car when he saw the bird hit the glass wall and land in our pool in which [it looked like] he drowned and was close to dying,” the son writes on the family’s YouTube channel.
“My dad straight away got the bird and formed CPR on him/her. The CPR was working okay but he needed something more strong so he brought something else into the scene.
“This thing [the air compressor] pumped large amounts of air very fast. My father placed the tube in the bird’s mouth and turned it on which straight away brought him back to life!’
In the dramatic footage, it initially appears that the kookaburra is a lost cause, but the man, alternating between chest presses and mouth-to-mouth, refuses to give up.
After a few blasts from the machine the bird suddenly sprang to its feet, and although still unsteady, a top-up from the air compressor worked wonders.
“Dad saved a kookaburra. That’s amazing!”, the man’s son can be heard saying poolside.
It looks like the kookaburra thinks dad is a bit of a hero too. He sticks around long enough to pose up for pics with his lifesaver before flying off for a drier perch.
