Here are the best binge-worthy television shows to watch so far this year:
Black Snow
A gripping crime drama set in north Queensland and headlined by Travis Fimmel (Calvin Klein model and actor). It follows the story of murdered teenager Jasmine Baker. Leaving the Australian South Sea Islander community devastated when the killer isn’t found. Streaming on Stan.
My Lady Jane
A quirky and unusual fantasy romance with mythical creatures. Lady Jane Grey and her husband Guildford attempt to live together and marry despite their relatives. Streaming on Prime Video.
The Lost Flowers of Alice Hart
An Australian drama centred around a flower farm that looks after women fleeing domestic violence and trauma. It is based on the novel by Holly Ringland. Heartbreaking but beautiful. (Yes, the locations are fictional). Streaming on Prime Video.
Nobody Wants This
An interesting peak into the Jewish religion and way of life. When a minister falls in love with a love and relationship podcaster things become complicated. They attempt to stay together against the wishes of their own families and friends. Renewed for a second season.
Reacher
Reacher is an American action crime television series based on a series of bestselling books written by Lee Child. Jack Reacher is a former U.S. Army military police major without a fixed home address. The third season is coming and it’s been renewed for a fourth season.
Sanditon
Sanditon is based on Jane Austen’s unfinished book. The first season is the best and more faithful to the era. It is followed up by another two seasons with a more modern twist. Of course, there is an obsession with marrying the right man and after a while, this gets a little weary.
The Tunnel
The French and English police collaborate to solve crimes committed in The Channel Tunnel. It has a similar premise to the television series based on the Danish and Swedish crime series ‘The Bridge’.
Netflix
Of course, don’t miss out on the popular television series on Netflix including ‘Bridgerton’, ‘Chucky’, ‘Cobra Kai’, ‘Emily in Paris’, ‘The Lincoln Lawyer’ and ‘The Rookie’. If you want something Australian, you can’t go past ‘Territory’ and ‘Boy Swallows Universe’.
You can safely watch ‘Sweet Magnolias’ and ‘Virgin River’ while doing something else.
Apple TV
You might enjoy ‘Platonic’ or ‘Shrinking’ on Apple TV. I liked the first season of ‘Ted Lasso’ and then detested it, but hubby still likes it.
I wish I didn’t waste my time watching ‘Selling Sunset’. ‘Polo’ was beyond dull and remains unfinished.
