According to Life & Style magazine the off-again, on-again couple wed in a secret sunset ceremony in Australia over the Christmas holidays.
Miley and Liam were both spotted in Byron Bay spending time with Liam’s big brother Chris and his family who live there now, as this grainy fan shot below shows.
“The wedding was a spur-of-the-moment decision,” says a source.
“Now they both refer to each other as ‘my wife’ or ‘my husband.’”
While a spur of the moment wedding might seem like a Miley move, it was actually all Liam’s doing, says the magazine.
“He corralled his brothers, Chris Hemsworth, 32, and Luke Hemsworth, 35, and tipped them off that he wanted to stage a surprise ceremony during Miley’s visit,” the source reveals.
“Liam choked up as he began describing his love for Miley. Then Miley started crying, too. It was very emotional.”
Chris’s stunning wife Elsa Pataky, 39 was the “unofficial matron of honor,” according to the report.
She even lent Miley a “simple frock” before they joined Liam and his brothers on the sand.
After exchanging vows guests were asked to light a candle, which “represented the eternal flame of their love”.
Afterward, the pair reportedly gifted each other “wedding bands that had been fashioned from palm fronds,” to solidify their new bond as husband and wife.
It’s been a rollercoaster ride over the last four years for Liam, 26, and Miley, 23, who has been photographed wearing her old engagement ring again.
They were engaged in June 2012 after falling in love on the set of 2010 tearjerker The Last Song, but by 2013 their real-life romance was officially over.
A source told People magazine: “Miley never got over Liam. Despite them constantly fighting before the split, Miley always said Liam is the love of her life.
“There were so many things that she loved about their relationship. They had a lot of fun and Liam was mostly very supportive of Miley.
“It seemed she was always hoping and dreaming that they one day could get back together again.”
