With the upcoming holiday season accelerating toward us we face the dilemma of what gifts to buy for our loved ones.
As a self confessed shopaholic, I have some savvy moves to find fun, interesting and thoughtful gifts that will thrill even the most difficult person to buy for.
It is also a wonderful time to give a gesture of appreciation to others in your life; friends, gardener, dance teacher, school teachers or even the office Kris Kringle.
There are so many ways to give considered and quirky gifts that show you have put in some thought even at the most modest price points… not that there is anything wrong with a box of chocolates!
As I regularly speak about all things shopping, I often end up in discussion with those who sheepishly admit they don’t enjoy shopping.
Naturally, I am fascinated to know what about the experience they find difficult. More often than not they find the mega-shopping complexes stressful, frustrating and expensive.
That is when I divulge some of my favourite shopping locations to leisurely bag a bargain without the stress.
One of my favourite locations for a one-stop shop is a visit to Sydney’s Paddy’s Markets. The markets tick all the boxes. It is fabulous this time of year, not just to purchase the perfect peach, but to check off all those gifts for your Kris Kringle list in one leisurely visit.
So in true shopaholic fashion I took the opportunity to visit one of my favourite markets to put together Christmas buying suggestions, highlighting some fun and quirky bargains for all budgets and tastes.
Once you have marvelled at the delicious food, stunning pricing and variety of produce, continue the fun as you tick off your Christmas gift list. To make it easy I usually break gifts into three price-points. I have even included stand locations. Check out the Paddy’s app to make whipping through the market a breeze.
Under $100
Remote Control Quadcopter $80 (stand 399)
I love this although I would say it is a great present for the older kids or for the big kids (aka Hubby) it looks like so much fun geek girls like me would love one too. This is a great price and a fun gift to get the recipient outdoors and away from the computer.
Solar Power Fairy House $66 (stand 366)
This is a great gift for the kids and for the gardeners in your life alike. They look great in a cottage garden or in a play area for the kids. Actually even a sunny window would see this fairy house delighting the little fairies in your life.
Waterproof Headlamp $89 (stand 741)
A great present with so many uses! It is a perfect gift for that man in your life that is hard to buy for but don’t limit its use. It is a great gift for cyclists and naturally the kids love to run around at dusk with the light too. I love them for an emergency blackout as both hands remain free whilst your path is lit.
Under $50
Underwater Mobile Case $25 (stand 246)
With Summer here one of the best gifts you can buy for $25 is a waterproof case for your mobile. If you have ever had water damage to your favourite phone you will know how handy this gift is. Wireless LED Speaker $45 (stand 376)
This is a handy stocking stuffer for everyone! For the teenagers synching up their playlist whilst hanging out to the Boomers in your life listening to their favourite music outdoors in the balmy summer weather. It is handy, mobile and easy to sync to your mobile device, laptop or iPad.
Thermal Flask $23 (Stand 277)
Fun, quirky and really handy – these flasks never go astray. I love the cat flask which is purrfect for the kids who love cats or the crazy cat ladies in your life who love to take their coffee or tea ‘to go’ (yep I am proudly a coffee-loving, cat lady too).
Custom Made Hat $25 (Stand 102)
For everyone who loves some retro fashion! Great for the kids who love Batman and especially quirky gift for your favourite geek.

One of the fun things about the markets is a great range of Australiana and a wonderful range of goodies to send to your friends overseas.
Angel Answers $20 (stand 366)
This is a fun and fabulous gift for 15 years and over. Windspinners $20 (stand 277)
With the balmy weather heading our way I love to get outdoors in the garden and relax. Imagine my delight when I discovered gorgeous Windspinners at one of my favourite stores. There is nothing more blissful than contemplating the world watching a Windspinner. There is something magical about the wind play on these beautiful shapes. They are a gorgeous gift for any age especially at this sensational price.
