Dutch supermodel Lara Stone will attended today’s Emirates Melbourne Cup as a special guest of the Emirates Marquee at Flemington Racecourse.
The London-based beauty was at the Emirates Marquee – which this year recreated the in-cabin First and Business class experience – and she also visited 1 Oliver Street, the VRC’s new Members’ Marquee in the Birdcage.
Stone also visited Myer Fashions on the Field ahead of watching the ‘race that stops a nation’ with VRC Chairman Amanda Elliott.
Stone, 33, got her break when a modelling agent scouted her on the Paris Metro during a family holiday.
The Dutch-born supermodel has worked with the fashion industry’s best photographers including Steven Meisel, Mert & Marcus, Mario Testino, Inez Van Lamsweerde & Vinoodh Matidan, Davis Sims, Craig McDean and Mario Sorrenti, among many others who have shot Lara for covers of virtually every major fashion magazine, including Vogue, French Vogue, Italian Vogue, British Vogue, W, Interview and more.
The in-demand model has walked in shows for major fashion houses such as Chanel, Lanvin, Givenchy, Louis Vuitton, Miu Miu, Balmain, Marc Jacobs, Missoni, Hermes, Karl Lagerfeld, Jean Paul Gaultier, Christian Dior and eight consecutive seasons of Prada.
The mother of one is currently the face of L’Oréal Cosmetics and in 2016 she made her feature film debut with a cameo appearance in Absolutely Fabulous: The Movie.
“I was so excited when Emirates and the VRC invited me to the Emirates Melbourne Cup,” Stone said. “Fashion is a huge passion of mine, having worked in the industry for many years.”
Emirates Divisional Vice President – Australasia, Barry Brown said Stone, a global jetsetter, is the perfect guest to host in the Emirates Marquee this year. “As one of the world’s most sought-after models Lara is a true high-flyer and we’re delighted to host her in the inflight themed Emirates Marquee on Emirates Melbourne Cup Day,” he said. “This is a time when Melbourne truly comes alive and we look forward to providing an exceptional event experience to both Lara and all our VIP guests during the four-day Melbourne Cup Carnival.”
