‘Miranda Kerr On The Simple Things In Life’ & Being The New Face Of Swarovski

“My idea of luxury is just stopping to put my feet in the grass,” says Miranda Kerr thoughtfully. Bright and early on a crisp, Sydney, autumn morning, Miranda fronts up to the meet the press as the new face of Swarovski. “Getting a massage, having a little bit of downtime. Laying down on the grass and watching the clouds go by. That’s a real luxury.”

Of course, the sparkling jewellery that comes with the job is luxury as well, that goes without saying. “I feel like you can go in there [Swarovski] and there’s so many different colours and metals that you can match all with a little sparkle that can make your outfit. I think jewellery helps a woman to feel confident and shine and be her best.”

“Miranda really surprised me on the shoot, she has a real eye for jewellery,” says Swarovski’s Creative Director Nathalie Colin. But Miranda isn’t surprised at all and hasn’t ruled out designing her own line for Swarovski, “I hear you’re looking for Australian recruits,” she jokes, in reference to the brand’s international designer policy which has designers based in different countries. And it sounds like Swarovski loves the idea, with board member Robert Buchbauer revealing they were discussing the opportunity yesterday.

“I’ve always loved accessorizing and whatever I wear depends on my mood. I love Swarovski jewellery, it’s versatile, there’s something really for every occasion, day or for night. I love crystals because they reflect light beautifully and they’re affordable.”

The ad campaign was shot by legendary Steven Meisel, with Pat McGrath working on the makeup, to create a number of looks that go with the various Swarovski stories.

“The campaign was great,” says Miranda,  “I love working with Steven, he really captured the essence of the brand, the joy, the sparkle, the beauty and I really feel like we shot so many different looks and there’s something for every woman and every age. My favourite pieces are the two tone metals, it’s really modern and they make it with the leather strap as well.

Just how important is jewellery to Miranda? “Choosing the right accessories can make an outfit and can help you transform from day to night. Just something simple statement piece like a really or even a beautiful necklace it can really dress a look up.”
