New Samsung Galaxy S7 & S7 Edge: All You Need To Know

After shaking up the smartphone design last year, the Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 Edge are not too different from the Note 5 and the Galaxy S6 Edge Plus. Without any major innovations in term of design and technology, it’s mostly all about the sleek glass and metal look in the latest incarnations.

The 2016 models are smaller for people who don’t necessarily want a bigger phone, but still want all the capabilities it can bring. The Samsung Galaxy S7 has a 5.1-inch display, while the Galaxy S7 edge has a 5.5-inch screen. They both have the same resolution as previous models (2560 x 1440).

The Galaxy 7S Edge has made the biggest leap forward in terms of head-turning aesthetics. Samsung has got rid of the sharper edge and flat back of the Galaxy S6 edge, replacing it with a curved rear that wraps around to meet the edges of the curved screen. The end result is a more rounded phone that feels smoother and more comfortable in the hand.

Beside the design, the S7 and S7 edge bring back useful features from previous models, including expandable storage and waterproofing – both essential add-ons at The Carousel. We’re particularly enamoured with the MicroSD card slot, allowing you to expand on the 32GB of storage that comes standard. Without going too deep into details, the phones have a new camera capturing more light with a potent autofocus and the screen is better optimised for longer game play.

The S7 will be available in Gold Platinum, Black Onyx and Black Pearl, and the S7 edge in Gold Platinum, Black Onyx, and Silver Titanium. Both models can be pre-ordered now and will be on-sale from March 11. Expect to pay $1149 for the S7 and $1249 for the S7 edge.
