Congratulations are in order! The Carousel love to support inspiring women who follow their dreams, and Christine Kininmonth takes the crown for both dream catcher and 2014 St George Bank AusMumpreneur of the Year.
The busy mum of four girls and co-owner of Fertile Mind launched into the pregnancy stratosphere when she invented the Belly Belt maternity kit, which is sold in more than 2500 stores and in 25 different countries.
Christine said she was “stunned” by the win. “So inspiring were the extraordinary group of more than 100 other women finalists over the 11 categories that I’d given myself a very slim chance at winning. It’s therefore a great honour to represent such passionate and clever mums in business.”
Christine also graced our TV screens as a judge on the ABC New Inventors – but few knew she was an inventor herself, with her idea Belly Belt now sold throughout the world. Christine’s best tip for mums keen to start up a business? Seek out others in the same industry. “Women are usually very supportive and will help other women with introductions and advice. Be respectful of their time, but a simple email with three questions won’t offend anybody.”
The 2014 St.George Banking Group AusMumpreneur Awards were presented during the AusMumpreneur Conference. This is the fifth year for this awards program, which celebrates mums in business who are achieving outstanding success in entrepreneurship, product development, services and innovation in businesses throughout Australia.
