Madonna Gets Maternal In Malawi & Returns a Goodwill Ambassador

An avid philanthropist, the 56 year old pop icon spent Thanksgiving away from her native USA to spend time at local orphanages in Malawi with three of her own children. In her first return visit since 2006 when Madonna co-founded her charity Raising Malawi, she spent time hanging out with local schoolchildren from three orphanages, from which she also adopted David Banda and Mercy James.

In between the time kicking back with the local kids, Madonna managed to meet up with Yohane Banda the biological father of David, and also opened a new 50-bed pediatrics ward in the commercial capital of Malawi, Blantyre. Before leaving on her private jet, she was also appointed as Malawi’s Goodwill Ambassador for Child Welfare after a meeting with the country’s new President Peter Mutharika.
