Melbourne Twilight Market: An Intimate Way To Shop

As online retail is growing so is the resurgence of more intimate markets, popup stores and even food villages. I say ‘intimate’ because these are not the massive Victoria or Sydney Markets but local farmers markets, carpark markets and twilight markets around the suburbs.

I have heard it called the power of polarity. When one trend grows, in this instance online shopping, the opposite also starts to trend. Walking leisurely around a small market, interacting with local growers, designers, artists and food producers is intimate compared to the informal clicking a button to have goods delivered.

Even in the centre of the Melbourne shopping precinct, Bourke Street, pop-up stores are attracting crowds. Some are even becoming an annual event with gorgeous artisans contributing to the affair.

In this mild Autumn weather, Citadines on Bourke Melbourne will host a pop-up twilight market for guests, passersby and the general public.

Following the success of last year’s daytime pop-up market at Citadines on Bourke Melbourne, the laneway-style lobby will be transformed once more into a thriving evening marketplace.

The market will see a number of new stall holder’s pop-up for the night as well as some old favourites from last year, with a range of stalls selling bespoke items and gorgeous gifts including:

  • Unique, handmade, costume jewellery from Tinka the Label
  • Homewares from AKA
  • Hand printed napery from Alma & Co
  • Artisan soap from Mineral Mud Soap
  • Handcrafted jewellery from Cathy Sutton
  • Prints, gift cards and handmade tea towels from Sketch Mill
  • Artwork from Art Ero
  • Natural room and body fragrances from The Essentials Lab

Citadines on Bourke Melbourne invites the public to come along and enjoy some delicious food and drinks on the evening while perusing the market stalls of these local grass roots businesses.

So as an organised domestic goddess, once you have ordered your groceries online click and collect, paid your bills via bpay and done your eBay shopping for the week, you may love to have a stroll around the twilight market with all of the time you saved online.

At the very least you may find some lovely gifts for Easter, the stroll will get your ‘steps’ up and if you are a shopaholic like me, shopping is positively aerobic so you will be supercharged for your weekend.
