We spoke to Michelle Broom, Grains & Legumes Nutrition Council dietitian and Nutrition Program Manager, who gave us more reasons to love toast, muesli and brown rice again.

“Whole grain foods assist people in maintaining energy levels as they contain iron which helps fight fatigue and B vitamins which unlock metabolism. Some whole grains like oats and barley also contain soluble fibre which helps to even out the energy spikes and dips in a person’s day.”
