Ingredients:

  • 3 x 510g pkts vanilla cake mix, plus listed ingredients
  • 200g white chocolate Melts

Child and parent baking
  • Parent
Grease two deep 23cm square cake pans. Line bases and sides with baking paper. Make cake mixture following packet directions; divide between pans. Bake as directed.
  • Parent
To make modelling chocolate, melt chocolate Melts in a microwave following packet directions; cool. Stir in glucose (chocolate will harden).
  • Child
Wrap modelling chocolate in plastic wrap. Refrigerate for 3 hours.
  • Parent + Child
Spoon frosting into a bowl. Add drops of food colouring, stirring with a spoon, until frosting is Dorothy green (see picture).
  • Parent
Using the picture as a guide, cut a Dorothy shape out of the cakes. From the first cake, cut out Dorothy’s body; place on a presentation board. From the second cake, cut out two identical shapes for her head, then stack them on top of one another, securing together with frosting; position on the board above her body. (If necessary, trim a little off Dorothy’s head so it’s not so high.)
  • Parent + Child
Cover cake all over in frosting.
  • Parent
Trim a few Candy Melts to make smaller dots.
  • Child
Copy the picture and put Dorothy’s spots, flat-side up, on the cake.
  • Parent
Knead modelling chocolate, then roll out to a 30cm round. Using a knife, cut a 25cm semi-circle for Dorothy’s hat. Cut out eyes, teeth, gloves and spikes for her tail.
  • Parent + Child
Copy the picture and put on Dorothy’s eyes, teeth, gloves and spikes. Gently shape Dorothy’s hat to fit around her head. Using a little frosting, stick flowers on her hat and on one glove. Draw on her pupils and eyebrows with the black writing icing.
