Chefs, travelling companions and Hong Kong super fans Gary Mehigan and Manu Feildel have been busy recreating some quintessential Hong Kong experiences in Sydney with a helping hand from Sydney Weekender and the Hong Kong Tourism Board.
Tune into Sydney Weekender on 10 April, and 1 May at 5.30pm (on Seven Network in Sydney and across NSW & ACT on PRIME Network) for some weekend itinerary inspiration from two genuine Hong Kong aficionados. The special segments aim to inspire Sydneysiders to discover the best of Hong Kong at home before they can get there in person when the border reopens.
Hong Kong holds a special place in both Manu and Gary’s hearts who have travelled to the destination on countless occasions to work, eat and explore.
In Manu’s own words “Some people travel to see museums, art galleries and architecture… for Gary and me, it’s all about the food. When I go to Hong Kong, wow – I am always overwhelmed by the huge variety of international cuisine available in this bustling destination. Everything you could want to eat and more. I can’t wait to visit Hong Kong again soon!”
The duo had a blast recording the show in Sydney. You can expect lots of laughs, some healthy competition and an introduction to some local legends keeping Hong Kong culture alive in Australia.
“We’ve all missed international travel, experiencing the sights, sounds and flavours of a culture different to our own. We want to give people just a taste of what Hong Kong has to offer Australians and something to look forward to when they can get back and experience it first-hand in destination,” says Karen Macmillan, Director of the HKTB, Australia & New Zealand.
