Australian Avocado’s Avotherapy: It’s All You’ve Avo Wanted

It’s true, we Australians love our avocado. Last year alone we managed to consume around 3.5kg of avocado per person, which is good considering how healthy it is for you.

Avocados are nutritious, fibrous, jam-packed with vitamins, are healthy fats, can lower cholesterol, help absorb nutrients more easily, are rich in antioxidants, can help prevent cancer, and it just tastes amazing. Basically, if we were to compare fruits to superheroes, avocados are Superman.

In fact, they’re so good for you that Australian Avocados is set to dedicate a one-weekend-only event purely for this wonderful, green fruit…and it’s called Avotherapy.

What’s Avotherapy All About?

To put it simply, Avotherapy is a celebration of all things avocado, an event that recognises the health benefits that avocados have. For two days, people will be able to enjoy wellness workshops and activities including:

Avocardio

Avocardio will involve participating in a fitness class that incorporates the right amount of cardio with yoga – topped off with a lovely complementary avocado smoothie and assortment of snacks to refuel you.

Avocado Facials

Clearly, avocados aren’t just for eating. The oils in the avocado-based facials will leave your skin feeling softer and it’ll rid the the dead skin cells to give your face a radiant glow.

Good Mood Food

Hosted by the dietitian Lyndi Cohen, the Good Mood Food workshops cover the health benefits of avocados in terms of nutrition and the general feel-good factor that it has a food.

Attendees will also be shown a few handy hacks like using the seed as a natural fabric dye, how to grow your own avocado plant, or different ways to use them in your meals.

The event will take place in Surry Hills at the Paramount Recreation Club on the weekend of the 12th-13th of October from 9am-4pm.

The event itself is free of charge, but there are limited spots, so make sure you secure your spot here.
