After 21-year-old Leyla realised that the request was not a prank, she and close friend and artist Emma Crupi got to work on the piece for the popstar.
The brief from Miley’s management was to design, produce and ship a bright and colourful piece, with an original print and the Miley Cyrus logo in less than 14 days. Too easy…
Emma said, “We stayed up all night to do the pattern design, then we had to print the pattern onto the fabric and then convince people to help us do everything very quickly” and that they were working “non-stop for two weeks, but we got it done on time”.
Leyla posted a picture of Miley sporting the ‘psychedelic leotard’ from her Philadelphia show on December 5 on Instagram, saying “still cannot believe I made this in my lounge room”.
The pair are still in shock, especially as they hadn’t heard from Miley’s team for months before they saw the picture on Miley’s personal Instagram page. They told Mamamia, “We are so stoked about this opportunity as we are only two 21-year-old girls from a small suburb north of Melbourne.”
According to Leyla’s Instagram, they’ve sent Miley a few more outfits. Here at Carousel HQ, we can’t wait to see Miley rock them on stage!
