Terri Vinson is talking science with Beauty Editors and extolling the virtues of plasma. Not traditionally found on earth, or in skincare; plasma is the hot, ionised gas found in lighting and 99% of the universe. The most pertinent question I had while listening to scientist and skincare founder Terri Vinson describe the properties of cold plasma essential to her Plabeau G4+ device were “sounds cool, but why do I need it near my face?”
As it happens, there are some excellent reasons, involving Korean Bio-Tech, dangerous germs, and breakthroughs in medical science. True sci-fi origins for a new skincare superhero.
Terri Vinson, who has a scientific background in immunology, was immediately interested when she heard plasma technology was being used in wound healing internationally. Particularly in South Korea, Plasma has been vital to the successful treatment of dangerous antibiotic-resistant infections.
Indeed, an unanticipated feature of our morning with Terri at SolSpa in Sydney’s leafy suburb of Vaucluse was some somewhat confronting before and after images of emergency ward patients. While they were not for the faint-hearted, they showed the life-saving efficacy of Plasma in treating dangerous diseases. But what about the life-enhancing rather than life-saving world of skincare?
Enter the Plabeau G4+ device.
The Plabeau G4+ has been available in Hong Kong for several years, where it became famous for its ability to treat bacterial skin problems like cystic acne and atopic dermatitis. It works by safely harnessing the power of cold plasma technology with nano pulse electrical currents. Cold Plasma is generated between two small electrical plates within the device. The device is then passed lightly over clean skin, like a wand.
Terri, who is also the founder of Synergie Skin, was aware of the “incredible innovation” coming out of South Korean, from cosmeceutical development to chemical engineering and medicine. When her Hong Kong distributors brought the Plabeau to her attention, she sat up and listened.
After using the Plabeau on herself for over a year, she says she is “totally sold” and is bringing this pioneering technology to Australian shores as the exclusive distributors. Terri said the efficacy of the Plabeau treatment derives from its ability to stimulate blood flow in the skin. “The plasma device stimulates blood-flow when we’ve got better blood flow the nutrients are delivered to our skin more effectively, and the toxins are removed more effectively,” she explains. Think of the Plabeau as a director that makes your skin’s work-flow more efficient – testing has seen that the Plabeau can increase the absorption and efficacy of actives in skin care products by a whopping 41%.
“Secondly, it stimulates fibroblasts which are responsible for the production of collagen in the skin,” says Terri, adding she has found these anti-aging results so dramatic she has been able to push back her botox appointments. “I was laughing with my marketing manager saying I need to book in, I haven’t been since January, but I feel like the Plabeau is really doing its job!”.
Indeed, researchers have found the Plabeau is extremely effective in addressing areas that are difficult to treat with botox, like the eyes and mouth. Researches observed a 26% reduction in fine lines around the peri-orbital region, meaning you can improve these areas without risking a frozen facial expression.
Terri advises following the treatment with a probiotic serum – to help balance the good bacteria after the Plabeau G4+ has removed the bad. She created the Dermiotic serum specifically for this purpose, and each Plabeau G4+ comes with the serum. Following the Dermiotic you can follow with your regular skincare treatments.
Terri found that the anti-aging benefits of the Plabeau G4+ were just as powerful as it’s acne fighting capabilities. Plasma stimulates blood flow and increases the absorption of active ingredients in skin care products by 41%. It also stimulates fibroblast cells responsible for producing collagen and elastin. Researchers observed a 26% reduction in the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles around traditionally difficult to treat areas like the peri-orbital region.
In this way, Cold Plasma is a catch-all treatment – boosting collagen and elastin while sterilising the skin. The remarkable before and after photos of patients with severe acne proved this. Not only did the Plabeau G4+ device seem to kill acne, the increase in production of collagen and elastin made short work of scarring and heal-time, leaving clients with luminous, glass-like skin.
Terri Vinson is pleased to be bringing this magic skincare wand to Australian consumers and we can’t wait to reap the rewards!
