What is Retinol?

Retinol is a skincare ingredient that comes from Vitamin A. It is widely known and often recommended by dermatologists because of its well-proven, various anti-aging benefits.  However, is just one member of a larger family of ingredients, known as retinoids.

How does it work?

Retinol can activate skin renewal by encouraging skin cells to turn out faster, and boost collagen production.

Is it only good for certain skin types?

Retino, Olay

Olay Retinol24 was designed for women and men with a range of skin types, who are looking to begin preventive skincare. The range is suitable for most skin types and is designed to minimise irritation by the choice of a gentle retinoid and the use of hydrating and barrier-building ingredients.  However, we would recommend consulting a dermatologist before adding retinol to your skincare regimen if you have skin conditions such as eczema.

What are the benefits?

Olay Retinol24 provides 24 hours of hydration and, with regular use, will help you wake up to plumper and younger-looking skin. The product range contains a patented technology that was presented at the 2019 World Congress of Dermatology. It is formulated with Olay’s exclusive Retinoid Complex which combines Pure Retinol, Retinyl Propionate, Niacinamide (Vitamin B3), and Amino Peptides. The result is renewed skin cells, visible improvements in fine lines and wrinkles and improved skin tone and firmness.

What are your tips when it comes to using retinol?

If this is your first time using Retinol, my biggest tip would be to start small. The Olay Retinol24 range is potent, so we would recommend using either the Night Serum or the Night Moisturiser in your daily routine, but not both at the same time. You can however pair either one of these products with the Night Eye Cream.
