Beat The Heat: Skinceuticals, Ultraceuticals, Bio Oil And Vida Glow

Summer is reaching its peak and around this time of year, we truly realise which products are cutting it in the heat, and which are leaving us wanting more. If you’re feeling the need for a summer-switch-out, we have a few recommendations to amp up hydration and keep you fresh-faced (and sun safe) this season.

The lightweight hydrator:

Skinceuticals H.A. Intensifier

There’s nothing ordinary about Skinceuticals new serum. The formula combines hyaluronic acid, which holds 1000x its weight in water, with encapsulated chain technology. This allows the plumping ingredients to penetrate the epidermis, creating a reservoir of hydration. Think of it as a no-tox botox solution to instantly plump out fine lines caused by dehydration. The serum has a perfect lightweight viscosity, so it will sit easily under sunscreen and makeup as summer heats up. It can also be used in the evening as a hydration booster layered on top of  more active (and drying) retinol and Vitamin C based night treatments.

The Almighty Defender:

Ultraceuticals Ultra UV Protective Daily Moisturiser SPF50+

No beauty routine is complete without sunscreen – yet they are one of the most complained about beauty categories. Lucky an Australian owned skin care company has cracked the code – Ultraceuticals two SPF50+ facial moisturisers are the best I’ve tried. The lotion is a broad spectrum SPF50+ and has added anti-ageing benefits like antioxidant protection, sodium hyaluronate. What’s more? Ultraceuticals have developed hydrating and mattifying formulas, so everybody’s base is covered.

Inner beauty balance:

Vida Glow Marine Collagen

The second most abundant substance in our bodies is natural collagen. However, this resource starts depleting in our mid twenties – a process not helped along by heat and sun exposure.  An easy way to combat the wear and tear of summer? Add a scoop of collagen powder supplement to your regimen. I have been adding scoop of unflavored Vida Glow Marine Collagen to my tea each day and found it’s a miracle worker for stressed out hair, skin and nails.

Top-to-toe hydration:

Bio Oil

An Aussie classic for a reason. GPs and dermatologists recommend this drug store oil for the treatment of of scars, stretch marks and uneven skin tone.  The bonus? It also makes an incredible after sun hydrator.
