The gorgeous young New Yorker is looking forward to her visit Down Under;  “I’m so excited to get back to Australia. The only time I’ve spent there is in the Gold Coast so I’m looking forward to experiencing Melbourne, and attending one of Australia’s biggest racing, fashion and social events in the Emirates Marquee,” she said.

At only 19 years old, the international supermodel and TV personality has already had an accomplished career, featuring on the cover of Carine Roitfeld’s CR Fashion Book’s fourth issue and Galore magazine as well as gracing some of the world’s most impressive magazine titles including Vogue, ELLE, Cleo and Sports Illustrated. What fashion trends will you be sporting in the Emirates Marquee this year?

I think a great pair of sunglasses can really make an outfit. I’ll be bringing out my new favourites if the sun gets too bright.

The Emirates Marquee is ‘the place to be’ during the carnival, what’s special about this year’s theme?

I think the theme is a creative way to let guests experience and learn a little bit about what Emirates is bringing in the near future. So many people travel from all over the world to be at the Melbourne Cup, so I think the theme also represents a mix of culture.

How does it feel to be the Emirates guest of honour?

It’s an honour as I know there are so many people that would have loved to be their guest, and they’ve hosted many talented and amazing people in the past. I’m so excited to be travelling Emirates to Melbourne. Any travel day that involves this airline is a good one!

What else will you be doing in Melbourne/Australia during your trip?

I’m not exactly sure yet, I have one day off so I’ll probably just adventure. I’m meeting up with some Aussie friends, so they’ll show me a good time! I’m mostly looking forward to getting to meet the horses and jockey’s. I grew up with horses and I always feel at home around them.

What are the essentials in your bag on a race day?

I’ll definitely have my favourite pair of sunglasses, sunscreen, lip balm, and something to take pictures with – probably my phone.

What’s next for Gigi Hadid?

There’s a lot coming up that I’m really excited about. Unfortunately I can’t disclose it but I can say that it’s coming sooner than later!
