The last few months have stoked my interest in at-home health and beauty products and gadgets. Being on lockdown will do that to a gal! To keep my sanity and maintain salon-quality results beyond cleansing, toning and moisturising I have done a test drive on some fabulous DIY gadgets that are not only handy to have on hand but are small enough to take on holidays or use on the go.
Glimmering Smile
Your smile might currently be obscured by a mask however you can easily maintain a dazzling Zoom smile with this new pen.
You may have noticed in your regular visits to the dentist the Philips Zoom in-chair teeth whitening treatment. I have been making use of the latest addition to the Philips Zoom range. The Philips Zoom Whitening Pen. It is a fresh-tasting click-pen that allows you to keep your teeth sparkling white without rubbery mouth trays. Just click it a couple of times and brush it onto your teeth, no need to rinse. This was a great find. I have used strips before but I felt like they missed the areas between teeth. This pen allows you to ensure every crevice will receive the treatment. It tastes great and feels like a functional way to keep your mouth fresh and teeth sparkling. There are two pens per pack, which makes it perfect to keep one in your handbag or car to keep fresh on the go.
Cool Facial
I must admit, I have had my eye on a jade roller since I first saw them when shooting a gift guide for the Channel 9 Today Show. This is such a wonderful way to massage and de-puff under eyes. I was delighted to find this clever model from LUX is sonic so includes the added benefit of a gently humming vibration when easing serums and creams into your skin. I also loved it on my temples when I was recovering from a headache. The cool stone rolling the tension away was ideal. I also used it in the morning to stimulate circulation. I recommend it. In fact, I think this economical device will be finding its way into many Christmas stockings this year.
Squeaky Clean
I do love the feeling of clean skin. I have a t-zone skin type and I find microdermabrasion weekly a really useful way to avoid blackheads, build-up and impurities. I did buy a large expensive machine some years ago but was delighted to find a smaller, cordless model. The microdermabrasion kit is about the size of an electric toothbrush, charges from a USB and has a mode for your skin type and 6 different suction heads for all treatment needs including a crystal abrasion tip. This device will find its way into my travel luggage for future holidays.
Silky Smooth Skin
One of the in-salon services I missed most on lockdown was hair removal. This little IPL was a very welcome test drive. It is small but power-packed. I really liked that it treats any body part (including Face and Brazilian) in just minutes, all from the comfort of your own bathroom. There are no replacements or refills like many IPL machines. Another great economical gadget to take on your travel so you keep up your IPL treatments when you need them.
Gadgets don’t replace the experience of in-salon treatments with professionals, however for maintenance at home or if you are on lockdown, these handy gadgets certainly help keep you feeling indulged.
