Nothing spells out “I’ve had a big night!” like dark circles under your eyes. We asked international hair and makeup artist Heidi Scarlett King for her best tips to hide this problematic area.
Step 1 Start the process with a rich moisturiser. “Making this area well-hydrated ensures a perfect makeup application and prevents a cakey look to to your eye,” says King. This stem cell rich formula fixes up dry patches in an instant, and can treat wrinkles and eye bags over time. Try Dr Jart Cellwake Regenerating Eye Cream, $84 (Available at Sephora)
Step 2 Pick a creamy concealer that matches exactly to your foundation colour, and apply with a finger or soft brush. “Try and match the shade as close as possible – anything too light will highlight the area, not conceal!’ continues King. To fake a good night’s sleep, try this award-winning concealer that also helps to treat the appearance of lines and redness around the area. Try IT Cosmetics Bye Bye Under Eye Anti-Aging Concealer, $38 (Available at Sephora)
Step 3 Finish the look with a dusting of translucent brightening powder. “This will take out any dewiness around the concealed area, and lift the area from dullness,” says King. You can’t go wrong with a Laura Mercier loose powder. This version works to weightlessly set your makeup without caking through the day. Try Laura Mercier Secret Brightening Powder, $35
